Terms of Use

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Kerith mobile application, the website at https://kerith.app, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Oleh Chausov, an individual residing in Kharkiv, Ukraine ("Kerith", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

1.1. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or the higher minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

1.2. By using the Service, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Description of the service

2.1. Kerith is an AI-powered Bible study companion. Features include AI-assisted chat, journaling, prayer entries, sermon summaries, and reflections tailored to the tradition you select during onboarding.

2.2. Kerith is a study tool. It is not a spiritual authority and is not a substitute for your pastor, church, or faith community. We encourage you to bring serious questions to qualified people in your community.

2.3. AI responses can be inaccurate or incomplete. Kerith may produce errors, including incorrect Scripture references. You are responsible for independently verifying any information before relying on it. Treat responses as a starting point for your own study, not a final answer.

2.4. Not an emergency or crisis service. Kerith does not provide medical, psychological, or crisis services, and is not a substitute for professional care. If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, or thoughts of self-harm or suicide, contact your local emergency number or a crisis hotline immediately. Any crisis-related message the Service may display is informational only.

3. Accounts

3.1. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

3.2. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

3.3. Notify us promptly at support@kerith.app if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscriptions, trials, and payment

4.1. Kerith offers a free trial period (currently one week). After the trial, continued use requires a paid subscription. There is no permanent free tier.

4.2. Subscription pricing (subject to change): $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Current pricing is shown in the app at the time of purchase.

4.3. Subscriptions are billed through the applicable app store (e.g., Apple App Store or Google Play) and are subject to that store's terms. Payments, renewals, refunds, and cancellations are processed by the app store, not directly by Kerith.

4.4. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your app store account settings.

4.5. Except where required by law or by app store policy, payments are non-refundable.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems; (c) reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the Service except as permitted by law; (d) use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others; (e) submit content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to submit; (f) use automated means to access the Service in a way that burdens our infrastructure.

6. Your content

6.1. You retain ownership of the content you create in the Service, including journal entries, prayers, and chat messages ("Your Content").

6.2. You grant Kerith a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you. This includes sending the relevant content to the third-party AI and infrastructure providers described in our Privacy Policy. AI processing is not limited to chat: when you use an AI-powered feature, the related content is sent for processing — for example, journal entries (for reflections and periodic reviews), sermon photos and audio (for text extraction and transcription), sermon text (for summaries), devotional inputs, and portions of Your Content (for search embeddings). See Privacy Policy Section 3 for details.

6.3. AI features are opt-in. We do not send Your Content to external AI providers for these features until you have granted AI consent in the app, and you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings.

6.4. We do not use Your Content to train AI models, and we do not sell it. See our Privacy Policy for details on how data is handled.

7. Intellectual property

7.1. The Service, including its software, design, and trademarks, is owned by Kerith and protected by intellectual property laws.

7.2. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

8. Availability and changes

8.1. Some features (reading past journal entries, reviewing saved sermons) work offline. Features such as AI chat, journal reflections, and sermon summaries require an internet connection and external AI processing.

8.2. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes.

9. Disclaimers

9.1. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

9.2. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate or reliable. These disclaimers apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law; some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

10.1. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KERITH WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

10.2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kerith from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Termination

12.1. You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete Account.

12.2. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law.

12.3. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Your Content license wind-down, Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification) will survive.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence grant you stronger rights that cannot be waived (including in the EEA, the UK, and California). Disputes are subject to the competent courts of Ukraine, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
